190004139- Michael Wander (W/M 03/06/1974), Transient, Retail Theft, Deputy Jones
Deputies responded to the above address for the report of someone calling out for help. (O1) was found in her backyard and appeared to be heavily intoxicated or under the influence. O1 was unable to respond or communicate with deputies and rescue was summoned. O1 was transported to DeLand hospital for evaluation. She was also found to have an open misdemeanor ROR warrant for DWLSR. As she was admitted to the hospital, hospital staff was advised to contact LEO when she was to be released. While awaiting rescue, a concerned neighbor advised he believed O1 has a teenage autistic child, (O2). The house was locked, but O2 could be seen sleeping in a bedroom of the residence. Contact was made with DCF to determine if the child could be turned over to the grandparents. DCF advised the child could be turned over to the grandparents and the incident was documented.
190004099 Joseph Krouse W/M, 07-22-98, 1407 E New York Ave Deland, Agg Assault, Poss of altered / stolen firearm, (Deputy Stoltz)
Deputies responded to a homeless camp in the above area. A W/M V1 was located deceased inside a tent. Due to the circumstances in the case, CID was notified and responded. The Medical Examiner responded and took custody of V1. No signs of foul play were apparent. The case is still active.
Deputy Stoltz and other D2 deputies responded to a domestic altercation with a firearm. The suspect and victim fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. The investigation revealed D1 (father of child in common) and V1 got into an altercation. The altercation turned violent when D1 produced a small handgun from his waist, put it to V1's forehead and threatened her. W1 got in between and struggled with D1 to get the handgun away from harming V1. V1 and D1 fled the scene but were later located in the area. D1 and V1 originally denied having a firearm but as deputies continued the investigation, D1 finally admitted to having a firearm. The firearm was located by deputies. The firearm was reported stolen out of D4. D1 was arrested and taken to VCBJ.
