On 08/19/19 at approximately 0328 hours, V1 awoke to D1 standing over his bed. V1 confronted D1, who then hid in V1's master bedroom closet. V1 armed himself with a handgun, and challenged D1. V1 ordered D1 out of his home at gunpoint, while his wife (V2) called law enforcement. Upon deputies' arrival, D1 was standing outside the residence with V1, and was secured. Through investigation, deputies learned D1 surreptitiously entered the residence by sneaking around to the back of the residence, removing a window screen, and pushing the window up. V1, V2 and D1 do not know each other, and D1 could not provide any reasonable explanation for entering the home. D1 was charged with occupied burglary of a dwelling, and violation of probation (VOP under case # 190017778). D1 was later transported to VCBJ. Case is CBA.
D1-Jeffrey D. Parsons, W/M (09/24/1969), 721 Roberts Ave, DeLand
On 08/18/19 at approximately 1500 hours, V1's jet ski trailer was removed from his vehicle while parked at the boat ramp at Ed Stone Park in DeLand. V1 advised he asked several bystanders if they saw anyone near his vehicle, to which several people provided a description of a male driving a brown Jeep towing a boat. The male was later identified as D1 and the Jeep and boat were registered to him. The many witnesses advised D1 had removed the trailer, and pushed it into the river near the boat ramp. V1 had the trailer pulled out of the river, and it was observed the license plate was missing and the tires were flat. The trailer was valued over $1,000 and the damage to the trailer was less than $1,000. Deputies made contact with D1 who confessed to taking V1's trailer and dumping it into the river. D1 advised he did this in a fit of rage because V1's trailer was blocking his access to the boat ramp. D1 was charged with grand theft and criminal mischief and transported to VCBJ. Case CBA
