UPDATE - 12/01/17 -12:01 p.m.

Volusia County sheriff’s investigators said this morning no charges have been filed yet in the shooting death of a 26-year-old man in DeLand on Wednesday night.

Detectives are still actively investigating this homicide, which occurred in the 900 block of South Florida Avenue. The victim was identified as Bryant Ball, 26, a black male with no known address.

We are still conducting interviews and looking for anyone with information about this investigation. In addition, a reward of up to $5,000 is available through Crime Stoppers.

Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.

The victim in Wednesday night’s fatal shooting in DeLand has been identified as Bryant Ball, 26, transient.

This is still an active criminal investigation.



Sheriff’s deputies have identified two men as persons of interest in a fatal shooting Wednesday night that occurred on South Florida Avenue, DeLand.

One man is being interviewed about the incident, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. and was reported when residents heard gunshots being fired and saw the victim lying in the road. The 26-year-old man, who is not being identified until his family is notified, was airlifted but was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Today as investigators executed a search warrant in the 900 block of South Florida Avenue, a second man was arrested on unrelated charges.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood said detectives aren’t naming the men yet because the investigation remains active.
