Good news -- the victim's injuries were not as critical as initially believed. He was determined to have non-life-threatening injuries. It appears that the vehicles on Saxon Boulevard had a green light at the time of the crash, and no charges are pending at this time.

Sheriff’s deputies were investigating an accident Tuesday night involving a sport utility vehicle traveling eastbound on Saxon Boulevard when it struck a male pedestrian near Finland Drive in Deltona.

The SUV was then struck by a Ford F150. Both drivers were transported to a hospital in Orange City for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was identified as Timothy Dixon, 52, a transient. He was flown by helicopter to Central Florida Hospital in Sanford as a trauma alert patient with critical injuries considered life-threatening.

Deputies were investigating the crash to determine who was at fault.  It was unclear whether Dixon was walking in the crosswalk.

The accident occurred just before 8 p.m. More information will be released when it becomes available.
