Date: November 10th, 2016

On August 29th, 2016 at approximately 0200hrs, the Port Orange Police Department responded to 100 Barefoot Trail for a reported Armed Home Invasion. While one of the victims was sitting on the porch, two black males approached on foot and forced him into the home at gun point. Two additional victims were inside the home when the subjects forced their way inside. Once inside the home, the subjects used the butt of a .380cal pistol to pistol whip two of the victims while demanding to know where the money was located.  The third victim armed himself with a .25cal pistol, but was disarmed by one of the subjects. The home was equipped with a video surveillance system, which captured images of the subjects before they were able to damage some of the cameras. The subjects made off with $700.00 in cash, a small quantity of cannabis, the victims's cell phones, a tablet, and the .25cal pistol taken from one of the victims.

A lengthy investigation by Port Orange PD Detective Barry Marotte resulted in the positive identification of the subjects as follows: 1) Najar Mackeroy, dob: 8/02/92 of 621 Jean St Daytona Beach, FL; 2) Nathaniel Williams, dob: 6/06/97 of 621 Caroline St Daytona Beach, FL.  Arrest warrants were issued by Judge Marriott for both defendants for the following charges:

  • Home Invasion Robbery with Firearm (No Bond)
  • Principal Aggravated Battery with Deadly Weapon 2 counts ( $20,000.00 bond/count)

Najar Mackeroy was taken into custody without incident by Port Orange PD CID personnel on 11/04/16 at 621 Jean St in Daytona Beach, and was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond allowed.

Information developed that Nathaniel Williams fled to his mother’s home in North Carolina. The Durham NC Police Department was contacted and took Nathaniel Williams into custody without incident at 1710 Palmer St in Durham, NC on 11/09/16.  Extradition proceedings to return Nathaniel Williams to Volusia County are forthcoming.
