Update: The victim of last night’s shooting is Monquavia F. Hamilton, 25 (DOB 4/23/1993), of 2008 Dearing Ave. The Sheriff’s Office investigation into Hamilton’s death is continuing and no additional details are available for release at this time.

Volusia County sheriff's detectives are investigating the shooting death of a woman who was killed in her home in Deltona this evening.

The shooting at 2008 Dearing Ave. was reported around 5:30 p.m., after a man performing work on the house discovered the victim. The front door was ajar, and after calling out several times, the worker said he went in to check if anyone was inside. He found the victim, a woman in her mid-20s, deceased.

While the victim's identity is known to detectives, and they've been in contact with her family, her identity is not being released publicly at this time. That information will be provided in a future update.

The investigation so far indicates the victim was targeted in an isolated incident. The investigation is active and ongoing and expected to continue through the night and into Tuesday morning. Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 386-248-1777. Information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect may be worth a $10,000 reward.
