TAKE TIME SATURDAY TO DROP OFF UNWANTED MEDICINES
Sheriff’s Office will collect prescription drugs at district offices

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is collecting your unwanted, unused prescription medication at our five district offices Saturday (Oct. 26) from 10 a.. to 2 p.m.  as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Vape pens or other e-cigarette devices can also be dropped off – only after the batteries are removed from the devices. If the consumer cannot remove the battery, check with large chain stores who may accept the vape pen or e-cigarette for disposal.

National Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), offers everyone the chance to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by dropping it off Saturday. More than 9.9 million Americans misused prescription drugs in 2018, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Most of those drugs came from family and friends’ home medicine cabinet.

So Saturday’s the chance to help us get rid of it and protect your family and the community from lost, stolen or misused prescription drugs.

Anyone with medication to drop off can visit these district offices Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Boxes will be there for drop-off and afterward, a sheriff’s uniformed deputy will transport the collected medications to our Evidence Unit.

Here are the locations:

  • District 2 office, 1706 S. Woodland Blvd., DeLand;
  • District 3 north office, 1435 U.S. 1, Suite D-3, Ormond Beach;
  • District 3 south office, 101 E. Canal St., New Smyrna Beach;
  • District 4 office, 1691 Providence Blvd., Deltona;
  • District 6 office, 79 S. Charles R. Beall Blvd., DeBary.
