Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are looking for tips leading to the arrest of a suspect who robbed a Daytona Beach-area 7-Eleven store last month – and may be the same suspect who robbed another 7-Eleven in Ormond Beach a couple weeks later.

The first robbery happened around 2:06 a.m. April 26 at the 7-Eleven at 1200 Flomich Street, Daytona Beach. The suspect came in the store and demanded money from the clerk, sparking an altercation. The clerk used pepper spray on the suspect, but the robber still went behind the counter, took money from the register and escaped on foot.

He was described as a thin white male with curly brown hair, about 5’10” to 6’ tall and using a cloth to conceal his face. Detectives believe he may go by the nickname “Gruff.”

The second robbery, an Ormond Beach Police Department case, occurred around 3:50 a.m. May 13 at the 7-Eleven at 1950 W. Granada Blvd. In that case, police said the robber jumped over the counter and stole the entire cash register drawer. Ormond Beach PD’s news release and surveillance image in this case is available here: http://www.ormondbeach.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/5857

Anyone with information in either case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS or submit a tip via the web or mobile app available at WeStopCrime.comTipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
