DELTONA MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN DEBARY
A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a crash with a truck on Dirksen Drive near the Interstate 4 ramp.
The crash around 6:30 a.m. killed 28-year-old Carl Lee Pierce (DOB 12/13/1989) of Deltona, who was driving a 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Dirksen.
An eastbound 2016 Ford F-150 driven by 32-year-old Dustin Lee Lindsey (DOB 8/5/1985) of Lake Mary turned into Pierce’s path as the truck entered the I-4 on ramp. It appears both drivers had a green light at the time of the crash.
Pierce did not appear to be wearing a helmet. There were no immediate signs of any driver impairment, and speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Dirksen remains closed at this time, with a traffic detour onto I-4.
