The Police Athletic League of West Volusia is a non-profit joint effort between the Sheriff's Office and the DeLand Police Department. The Sheriff's Office has committed a law enforcement officer full-time to run various sports and drug-free programs for local youths at-risk of dropping out of school or becoming involved in illegal activities. PAL currently uses the Nathaniel E. Jackson Gymnasium which is a cultural landmark in the West Volusia  community for more than 45 years.

Some of the activities that P.A.L. provides are basketball, track, wrestling, tutoring, and community projects.

Also offered are spring break and summer camps, as well as a week during the summer at the Florida Sheriff's Youth Camp. P.A.L. also is involved in both educational and athletic filed trips.

For more information, contact the P.A.L. Director, Carla Quann  at (386) 860-7030, ext. 20102
