Deputy Proctor responded to a domestic violence call. V1 advised her boyfriend, D1, began verbally abusing her. He pushed her down on the ground, took her debit card and left the residence. Once outside, he acquired a baseball bat and smashed in every window on V1's vehicle. He then fled the area. V1 additionally reported being strangled by D1 earlier this week. D1 was located a few hours later hiding in an old RV on the back of his property. He was transported to VCBJ.

Deputies responded to the Circle K Store at 2495 Tomoka Farms Road in Port Orange in reference to a theft by an employee. Contact was made with management and loss prevention personnel, who reported D-1 stole approximately $5,000 over a period of months while working as a clerk for the store. It was reported D-1 was selling merchandise to customers and voiding the transactions after they departed. Video surveillance and register audit reports were provided as evidence. D-1 was transported to VCBJ on charges of grand theft.

Deputy Walsh responded to the Gold Rock RV Park, located at 803 Old Mission Road Lot 40 in New Smyrna Beach, in response to the theft of two bicycles overnight. V-1 advised he left the bicycles outside his camper and they were known to be present on 02-13-2018, at 2000-hrs. On 02-14-2018, they were discovered to be stolen.
Case continued to Deputy Walsh for follow-up.

Deputy Vaughan and Deputy Stewart were flagged down by a civilian in the Dollar General parking lot, Oak Hill, in reference to a shoplifting that was occurring inside the store. Deputies contacted the store manager, O-1, who was busy with customers at the cashier counter. Deputies questioned O-1 about a possible shoplifting in progress. O-1 advised she was not aware of anything, however witnessed D-1 in the store on the cosmetic aisle who had a history of shoplifting. Deputies followed D-1 out of the store and questioned her. D-1 retrieved her purse. Found in the purse was 45 dollars' worth of products belonging to the Dollar General. The products were returned to the store and D-1 was arrested. D-1 was also found to be in possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis in which she was additionally charged. D-1 transported to VCBJ with a $1,000 bond.

V1 stated on 02/08/2018, he put his firearm. in his unlocked vehicle. When he returned to his vehicle approximately 20 minutes later, the revolver was missing. V1 stated he did not hear or seeing anything suspicious in the area.

On Monday, February 12, 2018, at 2319 hours, Deputy Wallis was dispatched to Daytona Beach in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Wallis made contact with (V1), who stated she was involved in a physical altercation with her live-in boyfriend, (D1). (V1) told Deputy Wallis while she was asleep, (D1) entered her bedroom in a drunken rage and threw a TV on her while she was asleep. (D1) then began punching her while holding a small flashlight in his hand, causing bruises on her face and body. (V1) was transported to Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, for non-life threatening injuries. (D1) had left the scene prior to deputies' arrival. A BOLO was put out for (D1). Daytona PD located and stopped the vehicle westbound on International Speedway Blvd. (D1) was detained by Daytona PD for further investigation by VCSO. Deputy Wallis met with D.B.P.D. officers and interviewed (D1). Investigation revealed (D1) was the primary aggressor and he was placed under arrest for Aggravated Battery DV. (D1) was transported to VCBJ with no bond.

Deputies responded to a physical disturbance call. Deputy Woell met with V1, who advised she was battered by D1. V1 had redness on her face and swelling to her knee. D1 was located up the street and arrested. The charge was upgraded to felony due to his criminal history. He was transported to the jail but was refused due to a bump on the back of his head. He had no knowledge of it and refused treatment. Jail personnel requested he be transported to Halifax for official refusal paperwork.

Deputy Walsh responded to 300 Ranchette Road in New Smyrna Beach regarding the intentional damage to two rented light pods. The portable light pods were tipped over, causing damage to several lights on each unit. It is unknown if the engines sustained any damage when they were tipped. R-1 reported the lights were last known to be running and undamaged on 02-10-2018, around 1800-hrs. The damage was discovered on today's date around 1544-hrs. The estimated damage is believed to be $2,000.

Deputies responded to a wellbeing check on V-1 after he sent his sister a good-bye message. He was located inside a shed at his business with doors closed and a scooter engine running. V1 had recently broken up with his long-time girlfriend. He was taken into custody under a Baker act.

Deputies responded to a call of a 14-year-old shot. Upon arrival, O-1 was holding a towel on V-1, trying to stop the bleeding. O-2 reported being in the bathroom and hearing V-1 cursing about his phone. Shortly thereafter he heard a gunshot. V-1 had a gunshot wound to his thoracic area. V-1 succombed to his injuries at Florida Hospital New Smyrna. The Watch Commander, Detective unit, Crime scene unit, were all notified. V-1's mother arrived on scene and was made aware of the incident.

Deputies responded to 161 Douglas Street in Edgewater in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, a detached garage was ablaze and locked from the outside. The fire department forced entry and extinguished the blaze. The structure appeared to be utilized as a residence and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Area residents reported the homeowner left approximately 30-minutes prior to the fire. The resident was identified as Bernard King.
Volusia County Fire Services reported the State Fire Marshal would be responding to conduct an investigation.

Deputy Seyboldt responded to 112 Charles Street in Edgewater for a well-being check, based on a request from Volusia County Animal Services. Contact was made with O-1 and O-2, who are residents at the home. Both subjects were found to be in poor health and unable to care for their pets, as evidenced by animal fecal matter throughout the front porch and inside the residence. Deputy Seyboldt found the residence did contain fresh food in the kitchen and the utilities were in operation. O-2 complained of being sick for the previous two weeks and was transported to the hospital at her request. Deputy Seyboldt completed a report for documentation and forwarded it to the Department of Children and Families in the event further services are needed. No current caregiver was able to be identified or contacted.

Deputy Woell responded to a report of a persons trying to steal a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja motorcyle. Palmer listed his motorcycle for sale on swip/swap facebook site. A male contacted him for two days inquiring about the motorcycle, before driving to the area to look at it. Two males and a female showed up in a vehicle. Once at the location of the motorcycle, the male sat on the motorcycle and requested to test drive it after Palmer started it. Palmer stood in front of the bike to prevent him from taking off and requested cash in hand before the test drive. The male accelerated attempting to flee but Palmer grabbed hold causing the bike to crash. The male got up apologized and left the scene in their vehicle. Case Continued
Deputy Weaver responded to a report of a battery. Parker advised he was driving through a neighborhood looking for a friend who called for a ride. As he was leaving the area Neill hollered at him. Parker stopped the vehicle and was approached by Neill, who inquiered as to why Parker was in the area. Neill further asked "DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE HERE". Parker responded "Perhaps I do". Neill then punched Parker in the face as he sat in his car. Parker fled the area and called the Sheriff's Office. Neill was located and arrested.

Deputies responded to a report of a Home Invasion type robbery. Jones reported two black males armed with hanguns forced their way into the residence once he unlocked the deadbolt lock. Jones claimed to not know either male, but fought with one over the gun. Jones claimed the male asked him to let him go with his gun and they would leave, which they did.No one was injured and Jones became very uncooperative once meth paraphernalia was found in plain view. The Watch Commander and two Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. The Daytona Beach Shores PD, Port Orange PD and Beach units all assisted, Air One was unable to fly. Case status: Active.

Deputy Seyboldt responded to 128 Randle Ave in Oak Hill regarding a domestic disturbance that occurred the previous night. Contact was made with V-1, who advised she and her husband, D-1, were involved in a physical disturbance. V-1 reported the argument was initially verbal and escalated, to the point she fled to the bedroom. D-1 entered the bedroom and briefly choked V-1. A struggle ensued and she fled the residence and hid outside until D-1 left when he received a ride out of the area. V-1 left for the night and chose to report the incident today. Deputy Seyboldt located an additional address for D-1 in Holly Hill. Contact was made with D-1 in Holly Hill with the assistance of HHPD. Deputy Seyboldt responded and interviewed D-1. He provided conflicting information and portrayed V-1 as the aggressor. Deputy Seyboldt determined D-1 was the primary aggressor and placed him under arrest on charges of simple battery related to DV. He was transported to VCBJ.
Deputy Maxwell responded to the District 3 South office and contacted V-1 in reference a report of identity theft. V-1 lives in unincorporated Volusia County. He advised on 01-26-2018, he received an IRS 1099 tax form for non-employee compensation from Amazon. V-1 advised he should not have received such form and had no association with Amazon. V-1 was informed to file a report by his accountant. Proper documentation has been filed with IRS. V-1 was provided with an Identity Theft Packet and case number for future reference.
Deputy Walsh responded to 2374 Taylor Road in New Smyrna Beach regarding the theft of two pocket watches from her residence. V-1 advised she previously kept her gold in color pocket watch and white gold Elgin pocket watch in a living room drawer. On this date, she attempted to retrieve one of the watches and discovered they were gone. V-1 advised the last time she knew the watches were both present was approximately four months prior.
V-1 did not have any surveillance cameras inside her residence. A query of the pawnshop database did not reveal any similar watches. Case continued to Deputy Walsh.

Deputy Walsh responded to the Chevron gas station at 2995 SR 44 in New Smyrna Beach regarding the theft of 168 gallons of diesel fuel during the overnight hours. R-1 reported the underground tanks were measured during the previous night at 2200-hrs, when they closed for the night. The tanks were measured again at 0600-hrs on 02-06-2018, at which time the theft was discovered. R-1 did not provide any suspects for this incident.
There was a similar theft at this location on 01-12-2018, wherein 121-gallons of diesel fuel were stolen. See VCSO report 18-907 for reference.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at 1720 hours, (V1) contacted the Sheriff's Office stating she was "feeling suicidal" and wanted to Baker Act herself. (V1) advised her two children; (O1) and (O2), were in the car with her and she did not want to harm them. Deputy Becker located (V1) and her 2 children with the vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot 107 S US Highway 1, Oak Hill. Deputy Becker determined (V1) was a danger to herself and told her she was being taken into protective custody as a Baker Act. (O3) was contacted at (V1"s) request to take possession of her vehicle. (V1) was transported to Halifax Hospital for evaluation; (O1) and (O2) were taken to the District 3 South Office while the Department of Children and Families was contacted. Deputies purchased dinner for both children while awaiting DCF to respond. At 2300 hours, DCF arrived and took custody of the children.

On 02/03/2018 at 2206 hours, Deputy Vaughan responded to 107 Lewis Street, Edgewater, in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, Deputy Vaughan made contact with (V1), who stated $500 was taken from her Chevrolet Equinox. (V1) advised upon returning home from running errands, her friend (S1) asked her to unlock the Equinox so she could retrieve something from the passenger side of the vehicle. At that time, (V1) said the $500 was still in the vehicle. (S1) got her belongings from (V1's) vehicle and left the residence a short time later with a couple of friends. Case is continued for further investigation.

Deputy Wooleyhan responded to the above location in reference to a physical disturbance. Deputy Wooleyhan met with V1 who stated his girlfriend, D1, fled the scene after scratching him on the neck and hand. V1 stated D1 might be armed with a knife. Air1 responded and located D1 several houses away from the scene hiding in the back yard of a residence. D1 was arrested without incident.

Deputy Wooleyhan was dispatched to a home in Edgewater in reference to a domestic disturbance.
The reporting party, (V1), stated his live-in girlfriend of several years, (D1), pushed him over into some trees prior to leaving the residence. (V1) stated he had scratches on his back, but declined any medical attention. (V1) stated (D1) left the residence they share just prior to him calling for help. Deputies located (D1) at a local drinking establishment and interviewed her. (D1) confirmed she had pushed (V1). Deputy Wooleyhan determined (D1) was the primary aggressor and the battery was domestic in nature. (D1) was arrested for simple battery. D1 was transported to VCBJ.

Deputy Woell responded to a report of domestic violence. Contact was made with V1, who was visibly upset and crying. She would only advise she and her husband were drinking and involved in an altercation. The daughter advised she witnessed the physical altercation and tried to pull her father's hands off of her mother's neck. The father shoved her away, telling her to never touch him. Barnes was placed under arrest and transported to the Jail.

Deputy Woell responded to a report of a domestic violence. D1 found an old pack of cigarettes empty. He began yelling at the mother of his children, believing one of their children was smoking his cigarettes. He aggressively grabbed her by the arm and the argument lasted over two hours prior to deputies' arrival. Their six children were all present in the residence and most of them were awake. D1 was placed under arrest for domestic violence battery and transported to the jail.

Deputy Seyboldt responded to a home in Oak Hill regarding a fight between two juveniles. It was determined V-1 and S-1 exited the school bus on 01-31-2018, at the intersection of E. Halifax Avenue and N. Gaines Street in Oak Hill. S-1 approached V-1 and pushed him to the ground. Deputy Seyboldt conducted an investigation and determined S-1 was the primary aggressor. Contact was made with DJJ and it was determined S-1 met the criteria for a civil citation. Deputy Seyboldt completed a civil citation against S-1.
Deputy Gering responded to 4644 Saxon Drive in reference to a residential burglary. Contact was made with V-1, who advised he arrived home on 01-31-18, at 1700-hrs, and found his Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer was stolen. V-1 said he'd been away from the residence since 01-28-2018. Deputy Gering did not locate any forced entry to the residence. No other items within the residence were disturbed.

Deputies responded to the Camelot County Restaurant, located at 351 N. Hwy US-1 in Oak Hill, regarding a business burglary that occurred overnight. Contact was made with R-1, who reported he arrived for work around 0550-hrs this date, and discovered forced entry. R-1 said the business was last known to be secure at 2000-hrs, on 01-30-2018, when they closed for the night. Once inside, the suspect(s) entered three locked freezers inside the area. The freezers were entered via prying or cutting the lock hasps. A variety of food was removed from two of the freezers.
