Victim- George L. Link, w/m, 03-20-1952
V-1 reported catching a male breaking into his car and attempting to steal a bottle of prescription medication. V-1 reportedly tackled the suspect, who was able to get away and run on foot towards Baton Drive. Deputies established a perimeter and a Daytona Beach Police Department K9 was requested to assist. The search for the suspect yielded negative results. The case is actively being worked at this time. The watch commander, Lt. Day, was aware.

R-1 advised that a female had came into the store crying, and said a male had approached here in the parking lot while she was sitting in her car. The female reportedly told R-1 the male had exposed his penis, and swung it around in a circular "Helicopter" motion. The female reportedly told R-1 she would report the incident to law enforcement later, and left the store in her car. The male is described as white, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and approximately 170 pounds. Deputies checked the area for the male with negative results. The female could not be located at this time either. A report was generated for documentation purposes only at this time. The case is active.
Deputy Szabo observed a green in color, 1999 Mazda B2300 traveling recklessly on S. Volusia Ave. Upon attempting to conduct a traffic stop at the above location, the vehicle fled. Dep. Szabo located the vehicle at 461 W. Fern Dr. OC. Contact was made with D1, who was identified by his mother and witnesses as the operator. D1 was charged accordingly and transported to the branch jail.

A silver 1998 Chevy pickup was observed back in at this location with no tag assigned. A check of the VIN through FCIC/NCIC revealed the truck was stolen from Deland in 2016. There are no suspects. Residents advised the truck had been parked at that location for an extended period of time. The vehicle was processed for latent prints, with negative results. The owner was notified, and the vehicle was removed from the scene by C&S towing.
Deputies responded to the aforementioned residence for a well-being check. After receiving no response, deputies began to look through the windows, at which time they observed a deceased adult-male inside the residence, suffering from an advanced stage of decomposition.
At this time, the identity of the deceased is unknown. The case was turned over to Detective Wheeler and CSU.
R1 advised on Tuesday, 02-21-2017, an unknown black male wearing blue jeans, blue shirt, construction-safety helmet, and a yellow safety-vest with the letters'JSU' came to her residence alone and identified himself as a Duke Energy employee. The male advised R1 that he needed to go into her backyard to inspect the power-pole. R1 advised the subject photographed the power-pole and left with no further incident.
On todays date, R1 observed the locking- mechanism to her gate broken. She called Duke Energy, who advised that none of their employees or contractors were scheduled to visit her area. R1 advised she suspects the male was'casing' her residence. No other similar incidents have been reported.
