MAN ROBS DELTONA CONVENIENCE STORE

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery of a Deltona convenience store Wednesday night. One employee was in the store when a man armed with a handgun entered and demanded money. The clerk handed over the cash as directed and the robber then left. There were no shots fired or any injuries.

The robbery happened at approximately 8:26 p.m. at the Discount Cigarette Beer at 783 Fort Smith Blvd. The 25-year-old store clerk told deputies the robber ordered him to give him all of the cash in the store, and the clerk complied. The suspect then left the store and it’s believed he got into a vehicle that was waiting nearby.

The robber was described as a thin black man with dreads. He wore a baseball cap, blue sweatshirt and camouflage pants. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Tipsters can also provide information by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
