DELAND
MAN
ARRESTED
AFTER
POINTING
LOADED
GUN AT
VCSO
DEPUTY
There is
no such
thing as
a
routine
traffic
stop, as
Deputy
Wyatt
Gayer
found
out
Sunday
night.
At 11
p.m. he
pulled
over a
car
blasting
music
and when
he
approached
the
vehicle,
the
driver--24-year
old
Louis
Hills
Jr.--
ran and
bolted
towards
his
house at
521 W.
Beresford
Ave. in
DeLand.
Deputy
Gayer
chased
him as
Hills
kicked
open the
front
door and
ran into
the
house.
Deputy
Gayer
saw what
looked
like a
gun in
Hills’
hand.
Hills
threw
the
object
under
the bed
in a
rear
bedroom
and
tried to
smash
out the
window.
When he
couldn’t
escape
through
the
window,
with
bloody
hands he
dove
back
under
the bed,
grabbed
the gun
and
pointed
it at
Deputy
Gayer.
Gayer
drew his
service
weapon
and
ordered
Hill to
drop the
pistol,
which
was
fully
loaded
with a
bullet
in the
chamber.
The 9mm
handgun
was
inside a
sock
that had
holes
cut out
around
the
trigger.
Hills
continued
to
struggle
and was
finally
handcuffed
and
placed
under
arrest.
When he
was
searched,
deputies
found
move
than 80
grams of
marijuana
and
cash.
Hills
was
taken to
Volusia
County
Branch
Jail in
Daytona
Beach.
He is
charged
with
four
felonies:
-
Possession
of
marijuana
with
intent
to
sell/distribute
-
Possession
of
marijuana
over
20
grams
-
Aggravated
Assault
with
a
Deadly
Weapon
-
Resisting
Officer
with
Violence
Hills
was also
charged
with two
misdemeanors:
Hills
was
booked
on
$33,500
bond.
