SUSPECT SOUGHT IN
DELTONA BANK ROBBERY
The
Volusia County
Sheriff’s Office is
searching for a lone
gunman who robbed a
Fifth Third Bank in
Deltona Friday
afternoon. While the
robber flashed a gun
and threatened
employees, no shots
were fired and no
one was injured
during the hold-up.
The suspect made off
with an undisclosed
amount of money from
the heist.
Deputies were
dispatched to the
bank at 596
Courtland Blvd.
after an employee
called 911 at 1:40
p.m. to report the
robbery. Deputies
began converging on
the scene from the
ground and air three
minutes later, but
as of mid-afternoon,
had not located the
suspect. Nearby
Sunrise Elementary
School was briefly
put on lockdown as a
precaution, but the
lockdown was lifted
at about 2:20 p.m.
Witnesses described
the robber as a
Black man in his 30s
and about 5’10”. He
was last seen
wearing black pants,
a long-sleeved dark
grey shirt with a
collar, grey
sneakers, a black
hat and white
sunglasses. The
robber also had his
face concealed with
a rag. Anyone with
