CROSSING GUARD LOCATIONS TO CHANGE
FOR NEW SCHOOL YEAR
Pursuant
to a decision by Volusia County’s
school crossing evaluation
committee, several changes in the
assignment of crossing guards
serving local elementary schools
will take place when the new school
year begins on Monday, Aug. 16.
Necessitated by budget reductions,
the changes will result in guards no
longer being posted at seven
crossings. The locations were
selected by the school crossing
guard committee that evaluates
crossing locations to determine the
areas of greatest need and usage.
The
locations that will no longer have a
posted crossing guard are as
follows:
Blue
Lake Elementary School, DeLand
● Wisconsin Avenue/Blue Lake Avenue
Freedom Elementary School, DeLand
● Orange Camp Road/Blue Lake Avenue
Friendship Elementary School,
Deltona
● Hope Avenue/Kimberly Drive
Horizon Elementary School, Port
Orange
● Hidden Lake Drive/Leone Lane
Indian River Elementary School,
Edgewater
● Queen Palm Drive/30th Street
McInnis Elementary School, DeLeon
Springs
● Center Street/Baxter Avenue
Volusia Pines Elementary School,
Lake Helen
● Prevatt Avenue/Kicklighter Road
