MAN
ROBS PIERSON CONVENIENCE STORE
The Volusia County
Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery of a Pierson
convenience store Sunday morning. One employee was in the store when
a man with a knife entered and demanded cash. When the clerk handed
over some money, the suspect fled without any further confrontation.
There were no injuries. Several deputies, a K-9 unit and a Sheriff’s
Office helicopter responded to the scene, but the suspect was not
found.
The robbery happened
at approximately 9:10 a.m. at the Pierson Discount Groceries, 184 N.
Center Street. The 64-year-old clerk told deputies that a man who
had his face covered with a mask entered the store with a
kitchen-type knife in hand. The suspect walked behind the store
counter and demanded money from the register while pointing the
knife at the clerk. The clerk opened the register and then gave the
suspect some money. The suspect then fled.
The robber was
described as a white man about 5’6” to 5’8” and about 150 pounds.
He’s believed to be in his late 20s. He wore a dark green T-shirt
with unknown printing on the back over a dark, long sleeve shirt;
blue jeans and a baseball cap.
