TIP LEADS TO DAYTONA BEACH DRUG BUST

A tip about drug activity led to one arrest and the seizure of marijuana, cocaine and pills during a raid of a Daytona Beach home Friday morning. Armed with a search warrant, investigators with the multi-agency East Volusia Narcotics Task Force raided 316 Manhattan Ave. at about 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. The search quickly confirmed information from a month-long investigation that the residence was being used for drug deals.

For starters, investigators recovered cocaine from a safe that was in a bedroom. In total, narcotics agents seized approximately 140 grams of marijuana, 14 grams of cocaine and a variety of pills. Agents also seized other tell-tale signs of drug activity, including about $12,000 in cash along with pipes, scales and plastic baggies commonly used to package illegal drugs.

The defendant, 23-year-old Noah Hansen, was arrested on felony charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams with intent to sell, possession of hydrocodone and possession of alprazolam. Hansen also is facing misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach at about 10:30 a.m. on bonds totaling $20,750. The East Volusia Narcotics Task Force is a multi-agency force of narcotics agents that shares resources and crosses jurisdictional boundaries to combat street-level drug and vice crimes. Participating agencies include the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, New Smyrna Beach Police Department and Ormond Beach Police Department.
