DUI SATURATION PATROLS SCHEDULED THIS WEEK, THROUGH NEW YEAR'S EVE

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled DUI saturation patrols for the next several days leading into New Year's Eve celebrations across Volusia County.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 28, deputies will be out in increased numbers to enforce the law and discourage impaired driving. The saturation patrols will continue through New Year's Eve, Dec. 31.

The stepped-up enforcement is part of an ongoing effort by the Sheriff's Office to improve road safety and reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers. The saturation patrols include a high-visibility concentration of motorcycle and traffic units that target trouble spots throughout the county.

Supported by grant funding from the state, more DUI enforcement patrols will be scheduled throughout the year. The project is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation, FDOT Contract #G0487.
