Interested in a challenging and rewarding occupation where you will have the opportunity each and every day to make a positive impact on a dynamic and growing community? If so, then the Volusia County Sheriff's Office is interested in you.

APPLY HERE!

The Sheriff's Office offers a wide variety of career opportunities, both in law enforcement and civilian positions. We're extremely proud of our agency, our people and the high standards of public service we provide. We're always looking to recruit, train and equip highly qualified individuals to fill the more than 900 positions in the Sheriff's Office. Do you have the ambition and dedication to join the team?

Not everyone can be a deputy sheriff. A deputy is required to be physically fit, alert and exercise good judgment, often with very little time to analyze available options. A deputy must have a good command of verbal and written communication skills and remain calm during emergencies. The hours can be long and the responsibilities are many. Men and women who enter this honorable profession do so from a strong desire to serve others and a commitment to protect innocent members of our society from criminals who prey upon them.

"Not everyone wants to go into law enforcement, and not everyone is cut out for it. But for me, it has been the most rewarding and satisfying way to spend my past 31 working years. The only way to understand the pride you feel while wearing the badge of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is to sign up and join us. I hope someone out there will see this message and realize we have the opportunity of a lifetime here."

—Sheriff Mike Chitwood
